One-time Volunteer Opportunities

The following opportunities are great ways for you to get involved in-person. Check back with us regularly, as we will post more as soon as they are scheduled.

If you have a skill you would like to share, we are always looking for volunteers to help with marketing, grant writing, event planning, fundraising, library collection building etc. Please reach out to us via books@accessbooksbayarea.org.


Book processing in Menlo Park, Dec 2, 2022, 10am-12pm

When: Fri, December 2, 2022 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Where: At an office in Menlo Park, address will be shared after you sign up Open Volunteer Spots: Closed

Make a difference in the lives of kids by helping us to prep books for an upcoming project at Lairon School in San Jose. We will be sorting through books and taking inventory based on a spreadsheet/list.  We need 4 volunteers to help us 10am – 12pm. Book processing will take place indoors. All volunteers must show proof of vaccination

Pack holiday gift books for children living in extreme poverty

Help to brighten the holiday for 250 children (ages 5-12) who are living in extreme poverty this winter. Volunteers needed to bundle books for Access Books Bay Area’s Holiday Gift program. Volunteer to do mural wall prep work – Dec 6, 2022, 1:30pm-4:30pm

Volunteer to do mural prep/tracing for Access Books Bay Area’s library revitalization project at Edenvale Elementary. We will be tracing outlines of projected images, to prep for the painting of colorful literacy-themed murals. You don’t need to be an artist, but should have ability to use a pencil with precision. Some work will be done on ladders. This opportunity is best for adults

Donate Books

WE DO NOT ACCEPT ADULT BOOKS OR BOOKS MORE THAN 5 YEARS OLD. We accept the following types of book donations: Used Books – You can give a new life to the books you don’t need anymore!  Please only recent/high quality, elementary school books.  Please no workbooks, or books that are worn or have been

Conduct a book drive (great for families!)

Share your love of reading, while giving back to the community. This is a great project for families, including families with young children!
